  • Look Inside

The paper reports clinical experiences with Tremaril, a new thioxantene derivative, which was administered orally to 22 patients with Parkinson's syndrome or with neuroleptic extrapyramidal disorders.

The writers draw the following conclusions: 1) Of the 11 patients with Parkinsonism, improvement was Observed in 72.7% and among the 9 patients with drug induced Parkinsonism, 8 showed amelioration (88. 9%). 2) The preparation had a markedly stronger effect on tremor than on rigidity in both groups. 3) Unmanageable ward behaviours could be bene-ficially influenced by the concurrent use of Tremaril with Thioproperazine in three of our cases. 4) No side effects and adverse reactions were displayed to date. 5) The authors conclude, from this pilot study, that Tremaril is useful in the treatment of patients with Parkinoson's syndrome.
