  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The cardiazol activated EEG of normal su-bjects, epileptics, psychoneurotics and other-neuropsychiatric patients were studied in re-ference to differential diagnosis. The findi-ngs are as follows:

1) The abnormal EEG response of epileptic nature which appears spontaneously before the cardiazol activation is considered almost surely as a sign of the epilepsy.

2) Even the normal subjects have possibi-lity to show the abnormal EEG response of epileptic nature by means of the cardiazol activation above 200mg, and this possibility grows larger as the dosis of cardiazol increa-ses above 300mg. From this fact it is conclu-ded that the response obtained by the cardia-zol injection aboVe 300mg has little diagnostic significance.

3) In the case of psychoneurosis, especially hysteria, the abnormal EEG response was activated even at the low threshold. This finding is interesting in regard to the pro-blem of relationship between hysteria and epilepsy.
