Iminodibenzyl Derivative (G 22355) was ad-ministered to 43 cases of depressive states (3 manic depressive psychoses, 6 periodical depressions, 12 melancholia simplex, 4 invo-lutional melancholia, 6 reactive depressions, 2 depressions with somatic disease, 8 neuro-ses with depressive feeling, 1 mixed psycho-sis, 1 schizophrenia with depressive nuance).

1. Among 43 cases, 24(55.8%) showed mar-ked, 6(14.7%) moderate, 6 slight improve-ment and 7(16,2%) no improvement.

2. Among 33 depressions, 23(69.7%) sho-wed marked, 4(12.1%) moderate and 2(6.1%) slight improvement, while 4 were unchanged.

3. The effective therapeutic dose was 75-150mg. daily, by mouth, but it was more effective to administered over 3000mg. in total dose for 3-4 weeks or more.

4. The side effects of this drug were not so serious and were less than those of phe-nothiazine drivatives and reserpine.

5. This drug was effective in the treat-ment of depressive states and symptomes such as emotional depression anxiety, feeling of inferiority, psychomotor retardation, reta-rdation of thinking etc.
