  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

By the acute asphyxia due to tracheal closu-er or potassium cyanide injection, the alterna-tive convulsion of four limbs, and then the tonic one were evoked. This alternative convul-sion did not disappear after the removal of cerebral motor area or transection above the midbrain, but it vanished by the transection under the inferior colliculi.

On the other hand, tonic convulsion survived after the removal of cerebral motor area, of midbrain, and of medulla. Through these ob-servations, the auther reached to the conclu-sions as follows,

(1) The alternative convulsion due to asphy-xia would be induced due to the activity of the locomotive center of midbrain.

(2) The tonic convulsion would be evoked from the anterior horn cells of spinal cord.
