In recent years, efforts have been made to engage labor and social security attorneys in assisting businesses with their mental health measures;mainly small- and medium-sized enterprises that are without full-time occupational health staff. However, they often do not have sufficient knowledge about mental health. Therefore, we conducted a training program for labor and social security attorneys in assisting workers with recovery and return to work and subsequently examined whether the training improved the comprehension and responsiveness of workers who were on sick leave due to mental disorders. Participating in the training gave them a deeper understanding of mental disorders, increased their ability to support workers on sick leave due to these conditions, provided them more knowledge about the Rework Program, which is explained in the training program, and improved their confidence in supporting such workers.
