The purpose of the present study is to investigate the influences of depression and sleep-wake patterns on the academic performance of girls studying in junior colleges. Sixty-five girls participated in this questionnaire-based survey. They were asked questions about their depression levels and daily routines, with a focus on sleep. The results obtained were as follows:(a) Students with depression did not perform academically as well as those without it. (b) Academic performance was influenced by the sleep-wake pattern. Our data thus suggest that academic performance is related to depression and sleep-wake patterns.
