　中枢部気道炎症に対するマクロライド系抗生物質の効果を明らかにする目的で，ラット気道粘膜のwhole mount sectionを用い，緑膿菌由来エンドトキシン（LPS）による血管透過性と好中球浸潤に対するロキシスロマイシン（RXM）の影響を検討した．LPS（lmg／kg, iv）は，これら気管および主気管支におけるMOnastral blue（MB）青染血管の割合と好中球数を経時的に増加させたが，以上の効果はRXMを7日間経口投与することにより用量依存的に抑制された．気管粘膜では，RXM 10mg／kgで，MB青染血管は6.7±1.5から1.7±0.4％に（p＜0.01），好中球は341±48から12±3cells／mm²に減少した（p＜0.001）．よって，LPSは中枢部気道粘膜の炎症を惹起させるものと考えられ，またRXMは以上の効果を抑制する作用を有する可能性が示唆された．

To determine whether the macrolide antibiotic rox-ithromycin (RXNI) affects microvascular leakagein the central airway produced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), we studied trachea and main bronchi of pathogen-free rats.Airway vascular permeability and neutrophil recruitment were assessed by the percent area occupied by Monastral blue-labeled blood vessels and by myeloperoxidase-containing granulocytes,respeCtively, in the whole mounts of the airways.Intravenous admin-istration of Escherichia coli LPS (lmg/kg) caused tilnedepelldent increases in vascular permeability and neutrophil influx in both trachea and main bronchi.
