　心血管術後症例65例を対象とし，経食道ドプラー断層心エコー法を用いて僧帽弁輪レベルの左室流入血流を記録し，その時間積分を計測した．同時に僧帽弁輪径を計測し，僧帽弁輪断面積を円と仮定して断面積を算出した．左室流入血流時間積分，断面積，心拍数から得られたドプラー心拍出量と同時に測定した熱希釈法による心拍出量測定値を比較検討したところ，熱希釈心拍出量［l・min⁻¹］＝0.77・ドプラー心拍出量［l・min⁻¹］＋1.51（r＝0.64,p＜0.01）と比較的粗な相関にとどまった．しかし各種負荷条件前後での心拍出量変化率は，熱希釈心拍出量変化率（％）＝1.02・ドプラー心拍出量変化率（％）−0.08（r＝0.92,p＜0.01）と良好な相関を示し，本法は同一症例における心拍出量の相対的変化の指標となり得ると考えられた．

The method of measuring cardiac output with trans-esophageal pulsed Doppler two-dimensional echocardio-graphy was developed and validated by comparison with the thermodilution technique in 65 adult patients. With the use of transesophageal four-chamber view, the Doppler sample volume was placed in the center of the mitral ring and the mitral flow velocity-time integral was obtained through planimetric measurements of the mitral flow velocity curve.
