Frequency dependence of dynamic pulmonary compliance was quantitatively analyzed in relation to the other functional disturbances and the abnormal findings in magnified selective alveolo-bronchograms (SAB) in sixty patients with pulmonary emphysema. All of the subjects showed marked frequency dependence of dynamic compliance. The ratio of dynamic compliance at 50 cycles per minute to that at 10 cycles per minute (C50/C10) was utilized to assess the magnitude of the severity in uneven distribution of ventilation.
