肺線維症と呼吸数—著明な呼吸数増多を呈したび漫性間質性肺線維症の一例

Pulmonary Fibrosis and Respiratory Frequency, a Report of a Patient with Marked Tachypnea

　日常の臨床では，呼吸数の測定は心拍数の計測と比較すると等閑視されているように思われる。これは，心拍数が比較的患者の意志の影響をうけ難いのに対して，呼吸数は患者の心理状態，会話，周囲の環境など多くの条件により修飾され易いためであろう。

　著者らは，リウマチ様関節炎に併うび漫性間質性肺線維症患者の一例に著明な持続的呼吸頻数を観察し，その病態および成因について二，三考察したので報告する。

Physiological and psychological studies were done on a female patient with pulmonary fibrosis associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Her res-piratory frequency revealed a diurnal variation from 26 cpm during sleep at night to 60 cpm during day time, overall average being 34 cpm. The minute ventilation was increased but alveolar ventilation was normal. Arterial blood gas analy-sis disclosed a slight hypoxemia. The respiratory frequency increased during breathing through a dead space with the concomitant change in arterial blood gases.
