 Identification of bleeding points is very important to treat colonic diverticular bleeding but is often difficult because diverticula are usually multiple. We previously reported that emergent dynamic CT prior to colonoscopy was helpful in finding the bleeding divericula and led to successful endoscopic hemostasis. We had used hemoclip devices in the management of diverticular bleeding. However, early re-bleeding had often occurred in patients treated with hemoclip hemostasis, especially in cases of active bleeding. To prevent early re-bleeding, we have started to use endoscopic band ligation and have achieved effective and safe management of active bleeding from colonic diverticula.
