　胸腔鏡下手術では，少ない侵襲で転移性肺腫瘍を切除することができる．一側に限局し，数個以内，直径4cm程度までの転移巣の場合には，どの部位にあっても切除可能である．肺葉末梢の場合には自動縫合器で切除する．大血管の近傍にある場合にはレーザーなどの機器で切除する，切除断端はフィブリン糊塗布や縫合閉鎖で処理する．深い腫瘍の場合には，自動縫合器のみでは奥のマージンが十分にとれない場合があるので，レーザーなどの手段を組み合わせて確実に切除する．大きな腫瘍切除の場合には，血管や気管支を処理して区域切除の手技で切除すると安全に切除できる．両側多発性腫瘍を切除する場合には，胸腔鏡下手術を応用し，胸骨正中切開のみで切除が可能である．

Metastatic lung tumors are resected by thoracoscopic surgery with smaller postoperative mobidity than by regular open thoracotomy. When the metastatic lung tumors are only in one side of the lung, fewer than several in number and smaller than 4 cm in diameter, thoracoscopic resection is a good indication. Endo-scopic staple resection is for the peripherally located tumors. Resection by the use of a laser device is for the tumor close to the big vessels. For the resection of deeply located tumors, the combination of the two above mentioned methods is recommended to obtain a secure and safe surgical margin.
