  • Look Inside

We investigated the present indications and results of thoracoscopic surgery for metastatic lung tumors. Thoracoscopic surgery represents a new approach method, with the performed surgical methods the same as those with conventional thoracotomy. We considered the indications for thoracoscopic surgery for metastatic lung tumors to include (1) a general state sufficiently good to withstand the procedure, (2) achievable control of the primary focus, and (3) resection of the entire pulmonary metastatic foci is feasible. To this end, a tumor diameter of <3 cm and number of metastatic foci not exceeding 2-3 were considered desirable.
