Ⅰ．緒言
ここに運動性興奮性組織というのは，神経や筋肉のような興奮性組織のうち，刺激に応じて収縮のような運動現象を示す組織を意味したものである。ここでは筋肉のほか精子およびナマズの皮膚の色素胞（クロマトフォア）についてものべるが，これらは厳密にいえば"運動性興奮性組織"とよぶには不適当であろう。しかし我々のこの方面の研究の概略をのべるにあたつて，便宜上このような表題を与えただけのことであるから御諒承いただきたい。心臓は当然これに属すべきであるが，その方面の研究は行つておらないのでここではふれない。
さて我々の研究についてのべる前に，筋肉の収縮弛緩の機序についての近頃の見解，とくに筋肉収縮の直接のエネルギー源がATPであるかどうかという点についての議論の若干を紹介しておきたい。
After short introductory remarks concerning the mechanism of muscle contruction, summary of the studies hitherto made in the author's laboratory on the metabolism of some excitable tissues has been presented.
As the experimental materials, sartorius muscles of frog and toad, thoracic muscles of sparrow, dragon fly and honey-bee, epididymal spermatozoa of boar, and chromatophores of cat-fish skin have been used.
As the detailed experimental results were already reported in several original papers, no comment will be made here owing to the demands of brevity.
