  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The prolonged clonic muscle spikes produced at stretching of the soleus in decerebrate cat is influenced by tapping of its tendon. Granit et al (1959) reported on the prolonged changes of the muscle spindle discharge after tapping of its tendon and muscle twitch. The changes of the clonic muscle spikes described in this paper correspond to the changes of the muscle spindle discharge. That is, when the muscle spindle discharge increases after tendon taps, the clonic muscle spikes increase too. However, in most cases the frequency of the spindle discharge is higher than that of the clonic muscle spikes. The relationship between the spindle discharge and the clonic muscle spikes is discussed.
