臨床検査室で利用しうる緑膿菌のピオシン型別分類法

A Pseudomonas Pyocin Typing Method Applicable to the Clinical Laboratory

　緒言—保育室や熱傷，内科，外科の各病棟での病院内緑膿菌感染症の重要性は病院職員，特に感染予防計画や疫学的調査に携わる人たちにより認められている．病院内には型（タイプ）の異なる種々の緑膿菌が生育しており，そのため（感染に）関連のある菌株とその臨床的あるいは疫学的問題に焦点を当てて検討するためにこれらの（異なるタイプの）菌株を確認する必要がある．現在は緑膿菌の異なる菌株を確認する方法には四つの一般的に認められた方法がある．すなわち，血清型別法，抗生剤に対する感受性による方法，ピオシン型別法とファージ型別法である．ピオシン型が最少の時間，費用，道具でもって，正確に実施できるために臨床検査室には最も適した方法と思われる．

INTRODUCTION-The importance of nosocomial pseudomonas infections^*1 in nurseries andburn, medical, and surgical units has been and is recognized by hospital personnel, especiallythose concerned with infection control programs or epidemiology studies. Different strains ofPseudomonas aeruginosa exist within any hospital, so it is often necessary to identify thesestrains in order to focus upon^*2 the associated strain^*3 and the clinical or epidemiologic problem. At the present time, there are four generally accepted laboratory methods for identifyingdifferent strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: serotyping, antibiotic susceptibility (antibiogram),pyocin typing, and phage typing.Pyocin typing appears to be the method best suited to clinicallaboratories because it can be performed accurately with minimal time, expense, and equipment.
