I．はじめに

　Frey症候群（味覚性発汗症）は耳下腺手術後の最も不快な合併症の一つである。Frey症候群の発症率は報告者によって異なるが，軽症例も含めるとかなりの頻度にのぼる。しかも同症候群がいったん発症するときわめて難治で，種々の手術的治療法が試みられてきたにもかかわらず，いまだに確実な治療方法がないのが現状である。

　Frey症候群の発症機構としては神経過誤支配によるとする説が最も支持されている。すなわち手術時に切断された唾液分泌神経がその修復過程において誤って近傍皮膚汗腺を支配するというものである。

　Several surgical procedures which have been reported are not fully dependable for complete cure of Frey's syndrome. The authors attempted a new procedure to prevent Frey's syndrome using lyophilized human dura that was placed under the skin of the parotid area. It was expected that the lyophilized human dura would prevent misdirectional reinnervation between the secretory nerve fibers of the parotid gland and the sweat glands of skin. The procedure was applied to five patients, and none of them developed Frey's syndrome during a postoperative observation period from 6 to 29 months.
