I．緒言

　中耳傍神経節腫は1945年にRosenwasser^1）により初めて報告されたもので，Guild^2）が1941年に記載したglomus jugulare bodyより発生する腫瘍である。以来諸外国では多数の報告例があるが，本邦においては1956年の切替，鳥山^3）の報告例をもって嚆矢とする。しかしこれ以後報告例は少なく稀な疾患とされてきたが，最近は報告例が増えすでに30例を越えており，必ずしも稀な疾患ではないように思われる。

　ところで私たちは最近17年にわたる長期の経過をたどり，外耳道に腫瘤状の突出をきたした中耳傍神経節腫の1例を経験した。そこで本例を報告し，若干の文献的考察とともに，早期診断の重要性について述べることは意義あることと考える。

　A 56-year-old woman was presented with complaint of a mass in the external canal, pulsating tinnitus and hard of hearing. The patient noticed left earache in 1966 and was operated on twice under diagnosis of chronic otitis media at another hospital in 1968. These complaints, however, were unsuccessfully treated because of bleeding. Examinations in our hospital strongly indicated nonchromaffin paraganglioma (tympanic type), and the complete removal was successful after the external carotid artery was ligated. The postoperative course was uneventful, except for temporary facial paralysis and a permanent conductive deafness. The authors had the strong impression of the necessity of early diagnosis and treatment.
