　I．緒言

　頭蓋外の頸動脈流域の動脈瘤は比較的稀な疾患^1）でその多くは総頸動脈およびその分岐部に発生する。頸動脈瘤の診断は一般に容易で頸動脈撮影が有力な手がかりになるのであるが，今回われわれは頸動脈撮影では動脈瘤を疑わしめる像がなかつたため難診をきわめた内頸動脈瘤の手術例を経験したので報告する。

　Carotid aneurysm is generally considered as rare disease. The authors report a case of internal carotid aneurysm. A woman, aged 62, complained of abnormal feeling in her mouth. With an attempt at taking a biopsy specimen from the mouth a profuse hemorrhage was met with. X-ray examination revealed an abnormal course of the carotid artery but no evidence of aneurysm. However with surgical undertakings the aneurysm of the internal carotid was found and removed. With the reestablishment of the carotid circulation the patient suffered transient motor aphasia but there was no unilateral paresis.
