　I．まえがき

　近年，各種の災害による身体損傷例が増加して来ており，なかでも，激増しつつある自動車事故を含む顔面損傷例の比率はきわめて大きい現況である。

　著者らは，山口赤十字病院耳鼻咽喉科において，昭和47年11月から昭和48年11月までの期間に7例の顔面骨折例について治療を行なつた。関連各分野専門医の協力を得ることが不十分な環境下において行なつた治療経験を紹介し，この分野の治療に対して，耳鼻咽喉科医もその特技を生かして積極的に参加すべきであることを述べ，この領域の治療などについて考按したい。

　Cases of facial bone fractures seem to be increasing in numbers. The present report consists of 4 cases of mandibular fracture and 3 of zygomatic fracture. Bone plates and bone screws were employed for reposition and fixation of these fractures.

　Fixation by means of bone plates in cases of maxilla and zygomatic fractures permitted per oral diet, in cases of mandibular fractures resort to pernasal catherter feeding was a necessity. In one case of mandibular fracture tracheotomy was also, necessary.
