Ⅰ．緒言
新生児・乳幼児上顎骨骨髄炎は，頬部・眼瞼の著明な発赤・腫脹をきたし，重篤な臨床症状を呈する。本疾患の病態，予後，合併症，治療方針などについて種々の論議がなされてきている。
治療法としては，従来，手術療法が重視されてきたが，近年の抗生物質の発達などにより再検討の余地が改めて考えられる。
Osteomyelitis of the maxilla in the new-born and young infants is a serious disease which presents many complicated aspects in the problems of pathology, complications, prognosis and therapy.
The authors report four cases of this disease. In three cases the treatment consisted of a combined use of antibiotics following surgery. Two of these cases recovered without further complication but the remaining one developed periostitis. And in one other the patient recovered under conservative regime.
The growth of staphylococcus aureus was shown in 2 cases. Various new antibiotics proved to be effective in the treatment.
