　Ⅰ．はじめに

　一般に上顎癌の転移は比較的まれであると考えられている。しかしこれらの報告はいずれも臨床資料に基づいたいわゆる臨床的観察によったものであって，病理剖検資料による観察はわずかにBraund，＆ Martin，森らの報告をみるにすぎずこれらも詳細な系統的な観察ではない。

　わたくしはさきに剖検診断に基づいた耳鼻咽喉科領域悪性腫瘍の全般について総括的な統計観察を発表したが，ここではこのうち上顎癌についてとくに転移の実態を中心として観察検討を加えてみたいと思う。

　Statistical observations were made on 388 cases of autopsy report on maxillary cancers in this country with special attention paid to the question of their metastasis. In 38.9% of the above number of cases metastasis occurred to internal organs; 26.0% affecting the lungs, 14.7% the liver and 13.7% the bony tissues. Furthermore, there were 37.1% of cases in whom the metastasis was found in the lymph glands and this number was much higher than the condition recognized clinically before death occurred. From these findings, the author states that the common belief maxillary cancer causing metastasis only in rare cases should be grossly modified.
