　Ⅰ．はじめに

　頭痛は多くの疾患における愁訴で，臨床上かなり多く遭遇する症状の一つである。しかし潜在性疾患を発見したり，本態性頭痛の診断を確定するためには，病歴の詳細な検討が必要であることは論をまたない。頭痛の起始およびその持続時間，強さならびにその変動，周期のいかん，動作との関係，患者の生活環境などは，いずれも診断上有力な手がかりを与えるものである。

　最初に頭痛の分類を簡単に記載してみよう。

When the patient complains of pain in the mandibular joint on one side along with pain in the corresponding ear, cheek and the side of head to the extent he is unable to mast-icate his food but, with no objective positive findings in the ear or the oral cavity, an af-fection known as temporo-mandibular joint dysfuction should be suspected. The relief of pain from this condition may be attained by intramuscular injection of 5cc of 1% solution of procain hydrochloride into the external pterygoid muscle and its surroundings. Usu-ally one or two such a treatment is sufficient to relieve the pain and to bring a cure.
