　Ⅰ．緒言

　抗生物質の出現により炎症性の疾患の病像は著しく変化したが，中耳炎に於てもまた著しく変化をうけた疾患の一つである。

　われわれは最近10年間の中耳炎の発症頻度を観察する機会を得たので，これを抗生物質以前の中耳炎の発症と文献的に比較して，中耳炎の推移の小資料として報告する。

A statistical observations were made on incidence of otitis media that occurred during the 10-year period from 1953 to 1963. Year after year the number of cases of acute otitis media gradually decreased and rated about 9.6% of the total number of outpatient cases. Sixty seven and seventenths percent of otitis media cases developed in children less than 10 years of age. The total number in whom mastoiditis developed was 10 and it was only 0.3% of the total hospitalized cases. These cases showed no age predilection; no complication was seen. Chronic otitis media resistant to antibiotic treatment were noted to be 73.9%.
