Ⅰ．緒言
1924年Ewingが骨髄腫瘍を内皮より発生したendothelial myelomaとして発表して後，細網内皮系統より発生する腫瘍に対する関心が高まり，1928年始めてOberlingにより細網肉腫の名前が用いられ，更にRoulet（1930）が本症症例について報告して以来，数多くの又多方面にわたる研究がなされてきたが，今日病理組織学的にも，臨床的にも尚多くの問題があり，予後の最も悪い疾患の1つにあげられている。これは本腫瘍が1ヵ所に限局して増殖する事は稀で，多くの場合種種の治療に抗して全身的に蔓延する特性を有しているためといわれている。
一方耳鼻咽喉科領域における細網肉腫については，従来比較的稀有のものと考えられていたが，近年本症に対する一般的関心が高まつて来つつあり，又1940年悪性腫瘍に対する化学療法剤の1つとしてnitrogen mustardが発見されてより化学療法は長足の進歩をなし，本症治療にもこれが加味され，幾多の新知見がもたらされてはいるがなお多くの問題が残されている。
Statistical observations were made on 29 cases of reticulosarcoma with special efforts made towards finding out effective method of medical treatment.
1) When the palatine tonsils were found to be involved comparatively good results were obtained by radiation and surgical operation consisting of tonsillectomy and radical neck-dissection.
2) When the nasal cavity or the accessory sinuses found to be involved little difference was noted when the cases were operated with or without radiation thereafter.
3) With involvement of the epipharynx better results were obtained when these cases were treated by radiation application.
