現在まで述べられてきた耳鳴の分類法を 1）患者の訴えによるもの，2）検者の診察所見によるもの，3）成因によるもの，の3つに大別し，また頭鳴と耳鳴との関係について検討した。
Nagahama attempts to define and classify tinnitus aurium. Tinnitus aurium may be classified according to (1) symptoms and complaints of the patient, (2) clinical findings, and, (3) the causative factors that induce its presence. Differenciation between a true tinnitus and that of an imagined one is indeed difficult and so also the treatment of tinnitus and a generalized head-noise which are equally difficult. It is also true that the basis upon which such a classification may be made is not always clear.
