超音波診断の現況

　Ⅰ．まえがき

　超音波が魚群探知器，測深機及び金属探傷器として実用化されていることは衆知の事実であるが電子工学の進歩に伴つて医学の診断分野にも利用しようとする試みが近時漸く活発となつて来た。

　すでに上顎悪性腫瘍の診断には超音波パルス法が成立することを発表したが，他の耳鼻咽喉科疾患に対して本法がどの程度に利用し得るであろうか？　診断とはいつても本方法では疾患を悪性，良性の範疇に区別することを主目的としているから確定診断は組織診に待たねばならない。しかし予め悪性，良性の別を知つていれば無計画な組織診を行つて予後を悪化させるというような失敗を未然に防ぐことができる。超音波のスクリーニング・テストとしての意義もまたそこにあるといえよう。

A study on the diagnostic method that employs suprasonic waves which was disco-verd through the progress in the knowledge of electronics is made. Entering into a brief historical review of this progress the authors discuss the conditions and the type of disea-ses of the ear, nose and throat under and to which the present method may be applicable. It was found that proper diagnosis can be attained, by use of this method, in such diseases as a meningitis of aural origin, sin-usitis, various oraeral tumors, salivary glan-dular tumors and benign or malignant head and neck tumors.
