　I．緒論

　耳鳴には多くの原因があり中耳における各種の病変もその原因となり得るがその発現機構はかなり複雑である。ついては鼓膜並びに耳小骨連鎖を含む伝音機構の，耳鳴発現に対する意義の臨床的研究を行つた。然らば此等の中耳伝音機構たる鼓膜，耳小骨連鎖等を除去した時，耳鳴に如何なる影響が現れるであろうか。我々は慢性中耳炎においては屡々中耳根治手術を行い此等を除去するが，この場合慢性中耳炎に出現した耳鳴が如何なる変化を示すか，この問題に対する系統的観察は余り行なわれていない。そこで私は慢性中耳炎の耳鳴を総括的に観察しつつ，この問題についての比較考察を行なつた。

The question of tinnitus aurium is inves-tigated among 333 patients, 379 ears, who were affected with chronic otitis media.

More than 50 % of patients reported the presence of tinnitus at the time of the exa-mination or had experienced it at one time or another.

In a greater majority of their number the type of tinnitus was characterized as non-vibratory and internittent.

No difference was noted by sex ; large nu-mber of cases occurred in the age brachet of 10 and 20.

In 80% cases there seemed to be a connec-tion between onomatopoiesis and the change that resulted in the tinnitus.

Viewed from the standpoint of ear mecha-nism the authors believe tinnitus in chronic otitis media might be the result of the effe-ct of inflammatory process influencing the mechanism of the inner ear.
