　緒言

　耳鼻咽喉科領域の悪性腫瘍も一般に予後不良であるが，特に上咽頭の悪性腫瘍に於ては，位置的関係からその発見が遅れ，而も治療の面でも困難な場合が多く，最も治療効果が期待される手術療法でも困難且つ不完全を免れず，更に早期に転移を来し易い事実をも伴つてその予後は極めて不良と考えられている。

　我々は最近，原病巣も既に極めて進行し，而も頸部淋巴節等への転移をも来して居た上咽頭肉腫症例で，放射線療法等の他，8-アザグァニン（AZAN）の使用が，特に著効を収めたと考えられ，夫々興味ある臨床経過を取つた3例に遭遇したので，当科領域の本剤使用報告の少い点に鑑み，茲にその大要を報告する次第である。

　Ohishi and associates report favorable results in use of Azan, 8-azaguanin, in treatment of sarcomas supplementary to that of employing irradiation therapy ander surgery. In 3 cases of pharyngeal sarcomas that were found in a man aged 67 and two boys, aged 11 and 12, the use of this agent effected a surprisingly good results. The authors state from their experience in these cases that azan should be given a trial where successful results are attained with difficulty when ordinary means of treatment are used such as that of irradiation and surgery.
