BALによるストレプトマイシン難聴の1治験例

　ストレプトマイシン（以下ストマイと略す）の副作用として起る所謂ストマイ難聴は適確な予防及び治療法が無い上に進行性非可逆性で，然も症状の発現は全く予測することが出来ないため，一度難聴が現われると唯，宿命として諦めるより外なく，結核の治療に暗い影を投じていた^{1）2）3）4）}。

　本年4月，牟田（実）^5）はフランスの文献から本誌上にストマイ中毒のB. A. L.による治療法を紹介して，ベルギーに於いてストマイ難聴の数例にB. A. L（英国製ルイサイト解毒剤）を使用して有効であつたと報じていたが，我が国では未だ追試されていない様である。我々は最近極く早期に発見されたストマイ難聴にB. A. Lと同一製剤であるBAL（バル「第一」）を使用したところ卓効を奏したと思われたので茲に報告する。

A patient, who was under dihydrostreptomycin therapy by intramuscular injections given 1 gram a day twice a week, complained of tinnitus aurium with a loss of 55 db at C⁵ when 21.5 grams of the agent was administered. He was immediately placed under therapy with BAL for 3 successive days and with 48 hours thereafter the tinnitus was abated and the hearing showed a recovery of 35 db.
