　ストレプトマイシンが内耳神經に特別の親和性を有することは，本劑の使用当初から云々されており，聽器に對する副作用は今日周知の處である。内耳神經のうち，前庭神經，蝸牛神經の兩者を比較すると，前者の障碍の方が遙かに多い事もすでに周知の事實で，從來の報告の大多數は前庭障碍に關するものであり，聽力障碍について精密な検査を實施した報告には未だ多く接していない。

　私共は先年來，感音系の障碍に關し研究して來たが，侵襲部位の特異なストマイ中毒に注目し，その聽力障碍について1〜2の検討を加えたのでこゝに報告する次第である。

SHIIDA and TAGUCHI repore: 15 cases of hearing loss believed to be aused by the res-ult of toxic complications that occurred during the course of streptomycin herapy. In 11 ca-ses hearing difficulty was discovered before 40 grsms of the drug had been adminis ered ; in the remaining cases the loss was established with progressive worsening after administrati-on of the agent had been suspended. Most cases thus affected belong to a type characte-ristic of nerve-defness, but, some of them sho-wed symptoms which pointed to combined nerve and retrolabyr nthine deafness. That deafness of this nature is characterized by loss of tones high in frequency that are without the range of that of conversation at its onset the diagn-osis at that stage require a hearing test that is most acurate in results.
