副鼻洞手術による眼障碍3例

　慢性副鼻洞炎は現今の發達せる諸種藥劑・抗生物質等を以てするも完全な治癒は望み得ない状態で，其の大多數の症例は手術的に處置せられて概ね滿足すべき治療効果を得ているのが現状である。されば此等副鼻洞炎の手術は廣く普遍化され，吾々耳鼻科醫としては日常施行する機會がかなり多いものといえる。しかしながら此等數多くの手術例の中には，少數ではあるが重大な合併症乃至副損傷を伴うことがあるのは從來よりの報告例にも見られる所である。私は鼻内篩骨洞開放術を施行せる3例に於て術後眼障碍を來した症例を經驗したので，茲に其の概要を御報告し諸賢の御批判を仰ぎ度いと思う。

IMAI reports 3 cases of orbital complications that resulted from operative procedure on paranasal sinuses. All of which recovered. But, in order to prevent occurrence of such accidents the author stresses the necessity of performing operations with every possible care in avoiding injury to surrounding structures and for this purpose the surgeon wants to acquaint himself by preliminary X-ray examination the individual differences that prevail in the anatomy of sinuses and their relations to other structures. Rough and blind instrumentation should be avoided in the procedure ; Adequately complete hemostasis should be attained in the field of operation. Should an injury be incurred to other structures or complications arise in them, they must be given an early recognition and proper steps be taken to suppress the effects of such accidents to the minimum.
