　緒言

　口腔に生ずる癌腫中，舌癌は最も発生傾度高く我々耳鼻咽喉科領域に於ては屡々遭遇するものである．しかして舌根部癌腫は他の部位に発生せる舌癌に比して少いとはいえ，其の解剖的及機能的関係より容易に周囲諸藏器及び淋巴腺等に轉移しやすく，手術的にも之を除去する事甚だ困難なるため，其の予後も亦不良と云われているものである．

　私は最近7例の舌根部癌腫に遭遇し之に「ラヂウム」治療を行つた所，いづれも好結果を得たので此処に報告し諸賢の御批判を仰ぎたいと思う次第である．

Sato presets 7 cases of cancer of the root of tongue in which he used radium and radon seeds and obtained favorable results. Patients were all advanced in age and predominantly male (5 cases) in sex. The sizes of the turner ranged from that of a walnut to hen's egg and lymph glands of the immediate vicinity of the tumor in all cases were involved to palpable degree of largeness. Microscopically the growths were epitheliomas.Metastasis to other parts of body was found in 4 cases.

In regards to the outcome of these cases 2 are over 1 year of observation since the end of treatment; 2 are over 6 months and 2 are still under observation in their 4th month; but no signs of abnormality are visible in any of them. One case died 5 months after treatment from pneumonia,
