　從來ム菌が耳漏の中に発見されると，耳鼻科医は俄然神経質となり，或る者は乳樣洞鑿開術，甚しきは中耳根治手術を行うのを原則とする有樣であつた．

　然るに其後サルフア剤，ペニシリン（以下ペと略記）等の化学療法剤が相継いで発見され，その入手が容易となるにつれ，本菌中耳炎の手術率が極度に低下した事は誰もが異論のない所であらう．

Mizuno and his associates report the resuIt of combined use of chemotherapy and anti-biotics on 14 patients who presented 16 ears involved in otitis media of mucosus capsulatus infections. The outcome of these treatments were highly favorable; particularly, in 9 cases, in which 10 ears were affected, to whom sulfadiazine was administered relatively early in the course of disease and in adequate amounts the results were remarkably effective.
