I．はじめに

　顔面神経鞘腫は，1930年のSchmidtによる報告¹³，本邦では1937年の大西の報告^9）が最初とされているが，聴神経鞘腫や三叉神経鞘腫などと比較し稀な疾患である．本腫瘍は顔面神経のどの部位からも発生しうるが，錐体骨内に発生した腫瘍では，頭蓋内進展をきたし脳神経外科的な治療が必要である．

　われわれは，顔面神経水平部から発生し頭蓋内進展をきたした顔面神経鞘腫の2症例を経験したので，文献的考察を加え報告する．

Although schwannoma may arise from any truecranial nerve, it is well known that the acoustic andtrigeminal nerves are frequent origins. Schwannomasof the facial nerve are rare. In this communication,two cases of facial nerve schwannoma arised from thehorizontal portion are reported.

Case 1. A 44 year-old male was admitted to ourclinic complaining of left hearing loss and facial asy-mmetry. About three years prior to the admission, hefirst noticed left hearing disturbance which wasgradually deteriorated and was transiently accompaniedby left tinnitus during the progression.
