I．はじめに

　著者らはイヌを用い，限局した梗塞病変の作製が困難であるとされていた脳幹部に，天然gutta perchaでcoatingしたシリコンゴム円柱を用いたembolizationの方法で，segmentalな梗塞病変を作製した^13,14）．

　本論文ではこの方法を用いて，栓子が脳底動脈を閉塞した場合を中心に，栓子の位置，神経症状，病変の大きさならびにその特徴，vital sign等について検討したい．

A report was presented previously on a new method for the segmental embolization of the basilar artery for infarction of the brain stem in dogs, using a cylindrical silicone rubber embolus coated with gutta percha. This report describes the detailed classification on the location of the embolus, neurological symptoms, volume of the infarct, nature of the lesions and vital signs.

A total of 94 adult mongrel dogs were used in this study. Anesthetized animals were ventilated mechanically, but some experiments were performed under spontaneous respiration in order to observe the respiratory changes.
