This experiment was performed to study the effects of bilateral common carotid artery occlusion on regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), mean arterial blood pressure (MABP) and electrocorticogram (ECoG) in SHR and NTR. The effects of reflow were also examined in SHR.

Twenty-eight male stroke resistant SHR of 6 to 8 months anesthetized with pentobarbital. The tracheotomy was performed and respiration was controlled mechanically to maintain the PaCO2 from 30 to 40mmHg.
