1．緒言

　脳卒中は現在，結核に代つて我が国の死亡率の首位を占め，また欧米諸国に較べても，我が国の脳卒中の死亡率は遙かに高い値を示している。

　近年国民平均寿命の延長と，老人病学の発展に伴い，頓に人々の関心の的となりつつある本症に対して，新たな観点から究明のメスを加え，更に詳細なる検索を行つて，脳卒中の病態の把握に努める事の霞要性は，茲にあらためて申し述べるまでもない。

The cerebral circulation and metabolism were measured by the modification of Kety Schmidt's N₂O method in 7 cases of apoplectic coma.Autopsy findings of these cases revealed 6 cases of them had cerebral hemorrhage and one cerebral thrombosis.

In the cases of fresh cerebral hemorrhage,we observed much more decreased cerebralblood flow (CBF),reduced crebral oxygen and glucose consumption (CMRO₂,CMR gl.) and much more increased cerebral vascular resis-tance (CVR) than those In cerebral arteriosc-lerosis with hypertension.The degrse of these changes in crebral circulation and metabolism may be said to correspond to that of the severity of cerebral damage by bleeding.One case of crebral softening,however,showed relatively slight decrease of CBF,CMRO₂and CMR gl.and appearently no increase of CVR compared with those of hypertension with cerebral arteriosclerosis.
