脳の領域特異性獲得の分子機構

Molecular mechanisms of brain regionalization

脊椎動物の脳神経系の発生過程では，その発生初期に未分化な神経上皮細胞が領域特異性を獲得する。この過程では，神経上皮細胞の個性の決定，また区画化の確立が行われる。発生が進行すると各領域からは多様な神経細胞が産生され，複雑な神経回路網を形成する。本稿ではこのような脳の発生過程に不可欠な要素である領域化獲得機構に焦点を当て，まずどのような分子メカニズムによって脳の領域性が獲得されるのかを論ずる。また特に終脳の発生過程において，神経細胞の移動と軸索伸長における領域化の役割について記述する。最後に，脳の領域化と終脳構造の進化について現在の知見を紹介し，脳の領域化の普遍性と多様性について論ずる。

Regionalization is one of the fundamental processes in early stages of vertebrate brain development. In this process immature neuroepithelial cells acquire specific characters and establish specific territories named as compartments. In later stages, various types of neurons are born from specific brain regions and constitute complex neuronal circuits. Here we focus on the mechanisms of the regionalization in the developing brain, and introduce several responsible molecules for establishment of this process. We also discuss on the role of the regionalization in neuronal migrations and in axonal formations during brain development. Finally we argue causal relationship between brain regionalization and evolution of the vertebrate telencephalon.
