緒言

　腎腫瘍，特に腎腺癌において腫瘍が腎静脈から下大静脈にそつて発育し，これが予後，治療方針に大きな影響を及ぼすことは古くから知られている。著者らは，最近，腎腺癌4例，腎盂扁平上皮癌1例に下大静脈腫瘍栓塞をみ，特に腎腺癌の1例では栓塞による術中死という苦い経験をしているので，文献を参考にしてこれらの症例の取り扱い方について反省したい。

Five cases of renal tumor with tumor embolus of vena cava, were reported. 4 cases were renal adenocarcinoma and one was squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis. The cancer cell infiltrating the retroperitoneum affected the vena cava directly from out side, in the one case with sqamous cell carcinoma, but the other 4 cases with renal adenocarcinoma showed distention to the vena cava via the renal vein and infiltration of tumor to the venous wall was noticed in 3 cases of them.
