喉頭領域における遠隔医療の試みと意義

　遠隔医療の有用性

　遠隔医療は映像を含む患者情報の伝送に基づき，遠隔地から診断，指示などの医療行為および医療に関連した行為を行うことをいう。病理診断，放射線診断，眼科領域における眼底画像の診断など画像情報に関する分野では，既に実用レベルでの取り組みがなされている。一方，耳鼻咽喉科・頭頸部外科領域においては，局所所見が診断に重要な位置を占めることから，遠隔医療の有用性は高いと思われるが^1），本邦におけるまとまった報告はみられない。今回われわれは小型プリントスキャナを用い，喉頭領域疾患における局所所見の簡便な画像伝送を試み，若干の知見を得たので報告する。

Local findings of the larynx were observed using a rigid or flexible endoscope and recorded on video tape.

Laryngeal images both on respiration and phona-tion were printed by a video printer. These images were digitized by a compact scanner and saved as JPEG (Joint Photographic Coding Experts Group) files in a personal computer. Data of laryngeal images were transmitted to two specialists as an attached file via internet e-mail. Sex, age and a brief history of the patient were sent by another e-mail.

Clinical diagnosis based on the transmitted images was consistent with those made based on the printed images before transmission.
