　はじめに

　耳鼻咽喉科領域で顔面の異物症例の報告は比較的少ない。今回われわれは，顔面の針状の微小金属異物症例を経験し，手術中，皮膚への外切開を入れずに超音波透視下に摘出したので若干の考察を加えて報告する。

A 19-year-old male presented with a foreign body, a piece of metal brushwire, penetrating skin of the right side of his chin while he was using the brush. At the first examination, the chin was swol-len and tender, but the penetrating hole was not recognized. The foreign body was removed through an incision on oral mucosa under the guidance of ultrasonography without skin incision. Ultrasono-graphy was proved simple and effective for the detection of this type of foreign body, and clinically very useful.
