　緒言

　頭頸部領域の膿瘍としては扁桃周囲膿瘍，副咽頭間隙膿瘍などがしばしばみられるが，側頭下窩に発生する膿瘍はきわめて稀な疾患である。今回，著者らは側頭下窩膿瘍の1症例を経験したので，その詳細について文献的考察を加え報告する。

Infratemporal fossa abscess is rare in head and neck area. A 47 year-old man presented with a swelling of the right paratonsillar area. Incision of paratonsillar area was done, but no discharge was drained. He was followed with antibiotic therapy. Thenafter, the swelling of the temporal area was detected. CT showed an abscess of the infratemporal fossa, and the abscess was drained. The original route of infection was thought the right inferior wisdam tooth, which was removed. The symptoms were improved after drainage.
