はじめに

　甲状腺腫瘍における腫瘍内出血は良性，悪性ともその報告は散見されるが，急速な気道狭窄をきたした症例の報告は少ない。今回われわれは明らかな誘因なく生じた甲状腺腫瘍内出血による急速に進行する気道狭窄で，緊急気管挿管により救命しえた症例を経験したので，若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

　A 53-year-old woman was emergently transported to our hospital due to a frontal neck swelling and dyspnea. Bronchoscopy showed airway obstruction caused by compression from outside of the bronchus, and a CT scan obtained after tracheal intubation revealed the bronchus to be retracted by a mass in the right thyroid lobe. It was determined that no improvement could be expected with conservative therapy, and the patient underwent right thyroid lobe resection on the following day. The airway obstruction was resolved, and she was discharged 6 days after surgery.
