　セメント原料を含む強アルカリ溶液が爆発し，31歳男性の顔面にかかつた。左眼に角膜上皮全欠損，広範囲な結膜上皮欠損，鼻側から下方に結膜壊死病巣があった。眼底には病的所見はなかった。その2日後に結膜壊死病巣の拡大があり，羊膜移植術を併用する広範囲結膜切除術を行った。術後炎症は軽減し，残存していた耳側上方の結膜から上皮が伸展し，4か月後には球結膜および角膜は上皮化された。瞼球癒着，眼瞼内反などの合併症はなかった。

A 31-yeaer-old man was injured on his face after explosion of strong alkali solution containing cement material. When seen immediately after the accident, his left eye showed total defect of corneal epithelium, extensive defect and necrosis conjunctiva in the nasal and lower sector. The fundus findings were inconspicuous. The conjunctival necrosis, which spread in area 2 days later, was treated by conjunctival resection with amniotic membrane transplantation. After surgery, ocular inflammation subsided and the conjunctival epithelium grew from the intact upper temporal sector. The conjunctival epithelium recovered completely 4 months later leaving no serious sequelae as symblepharon or entropion.
