Purpose:To evaluate the accuracy of PentacamTM by comparing the corneal thickness and topography as measured by other instruments. Method:Twenty normal eyes of 10 persons served as material for this study. Central corneal thickness was also measured by an ultrasound corneal pachymeter(SP-2000,TOMEY). Refractive power of central cornea was also measured by a videokeratoscope(TMS-2N,TOMEY). Measurement was repeated five times by each instrument on the same day. Results:Central corneal thickness averaged 548.3±18.9um by PentacamTM and 547.9±26.5um by corneal pachymeter. The difference was not significant. Coefficient of variance was 0.63 and 0.34% respectively. The difference was not significant. Refractive power of central cornea averaged 43.4±1.2D by PentacamTM and 43.2±1.4D by keratoscope. The difference was not significant. Coefficient of variance was 1.23 and 1.27% respectively. The difference was not significant. Conclusion:Values of central corneal thickness and refractive power by PentacamTM are identical with those by other modalities.
