　長期にわたる経過を観察し得た視神経乳頭黒色細胞腫の2例を報告する。症例1は62歳の男性で，右眼に発症。16年の後に腫瘍の隆起が減少した。症例2は39歳の女性で，初期には右乳頭炎と診断された。7年後に乳頭上の黒色色素が明瞭化し，9年後には色素病変は拡大し，視神経萎縮が著明となり，視力は手動弁に低下した。乳頭深部の黒色細胞腫が長い経過の間に周囲の神経線維を圧迫しながら成長し，視神経萎縮をもたらし，視機能が失われたと考えられた。

A 62-year-old male was diagnosed as melanocytoma of the optic disc in the right eye. During the ensuing 16 years, the tumor showed slight decrease in its height. Another 39-year-old female was initially diagnosed as papillitis in the right eye. A pigmented lesion appeared 7 years later. Severe visual loss developed one year later. The optic disc had become pale with enlarged pigmented lesion. The visual acuity deteriorated from the initial 1.2 to hand movement. It appeared that a deep-seated melanocytoma had been present which compressed the adjacent optic nerve. The swollen optic disc concealed the melanocytoma during the initial period. Progressive optic atrophy resulted from the chronic papilledema.
