  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A 61-year old female presented with pigmented tumor of the optic disc in her right eye. The tumor occupied the nasal half of the disc and was not elevated. Visual functions were normal except for enlarged blind spot and irregular concentric con-striction of the visual field. Systemic and labora-tory findings were inconspicuous.

We detected a tiny pigmented mass floating in the vitreous of the right eye. We performed diag-nostic vitrectomy. Pathological studies showed large degenerated cells containing numerous andmature melanin granules in the cytoplasm. We diagnosed the pigmented floating mass as melanocytoma, presumably originating from the optic disc tumor.
