　眼科診療施設までの交通の便が悪い無眼科医村において，デイサービスセンター通所者に対し眼科検診を行った。5年間の検診受診者は175名で，その80％に眼疾患がみられ，病院受診を指導されたものが30％に上った。しかし，そのうち病院受診をしたものは38％にすぎなかった。検診では裸眼視力を測定したが，精査加療を要すると考えられたものの視力は0.1以下の占める割合が大きかった。施設通所者に対する検診は眼疾患発見のために有用であるが，検診後の診療を受けず放置している例が多いことが問題であり，診療施設の整備あるいは診療施設までの交通機関の確保が必要であると考えられた。

We performed eye screening in a village with no resident ophthalmologist and poor accessibility to eye clinics. Examinations were made on persons visiting the day service center. Out of a total of 175 persons examined over a 5-year period, eye diseases were detected in 80%, of whom 30% were advised to consult ophthalmic institutions. Only 38% followed this advice. Visual acuity was estimated without re-fractometry in this examinations. In advised persons, the rate of visual acuity of 0.1 or less was large. The findings show the value of eye screening in those attending the day service center, although many individuals did not wish further detailed follow-up examinations. There is a keen need to open an eye clinic in this village or to improve the accessibility to ophthalmic clinics near by.
