　過去3年間に手術時に病床がないために不本意ながら行った角膜移植術の外来手術例23眼（全層移植術18眼，表層移植術4眼，全層移植術＋keratoepithelioplasty 1眼）の結果を入院手術例55眼（全層移植術35眼，表層移植術20眼）の結果と比較した。両群の間に透明治癒率の差は認められなかった。

　浅前房は両群の間にほぼ同率に認められたが，虹彩前癒着が入院手術例に比べ外来手術例では約1.8倍多く認められた。表層移植術では両群ともに何ら合併症は認められなかった。虹彩前癒着を問題にすれば，全層角膜移植術では入院手術をすべきであり，表層移植術に関しては外来手術でも問題はないと考えるが，この点に関してはもっと症例数を増やして検討する必要があると考える。以上の結果から，日本人における角膜移植術では，入院を原則とすべきと考える。

Keratoplasty can be performed as an outpatient procedure when hospitalization is technically unavailable. We compared the results of outpatient keratoplasty in 23 eyes and inpatient one in 55 eyes. After penetrating keratoplasty, the graft remained clear in 83% of outpatient and in 84% of inpatient cases. Shallow anterior chamber resulted in 11% each of both groups. Anterior synechia resulted in 16% of outpatient and in 9% of inpatient cases. There were no severe complications in either group. These findings imply that there are some advantages in performing keratoplasty as inpatient procedure.
